Doesn’t the nationwide ‘schadenfreude’ (taking pleasure re the distress of others) re the conviction of Officer Chauvin, remind one of France’s (1894/1906) ‘Dreyfus Affair’?
Wasn’t Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish Army officer, convicted of treason on the flimsiest of evidence by court-martial, to satiate widespread antisemitic mob-sentiments?
Despite subsequent findings of his innocence by a superior officer (who was shipped to America forthwith), wasn’t Dreyfus left hanging as the seeming real culprit was acquitted by an antisemitic dominated court-martial?
How can anyone claim to see so-called American values in a ruined, bloodthirsty mob dominated city, where threats of additional mayhem were so ubiquitous that some potential jurors were dismissed after admittedly fearing for their lives?
Now that the Minneapolis Star Tribune has published the profiles of the 12 Chauvin jurors for all to see, might jurors have faced the fate of 1952 Brooklynite Arnold Schuster, had they voted differently?
Was not Schuster, who had identified notorious bank robber Willi Sutton, assassinated in revenge by mobsters, after New York newspapers published his home address, work address, and his walking route?
Russ Haas,
Golden
