I’m a fan of John Akal’s column because he brings a perspective to his writing. I like that. Often I agree, and when I don’t he makes me think. With last week’s column “Patience in getting the vaccine out to everyone” I’m afraid he’s missed the big picture.
John’s info on where to get vaccine updates is informative and important. But we’re going to lose more than 500,000 Americans to this virus before the death rate eventually comes down. We’re going to be wearing masks for many more months. We’re going to continue to lose thousands of Americans per day. These are World War numbers and we’re now just 12 months in.
Our collective hope is in the vaccines which were produced amazingly fast, but without a clue as to how to distribute them at super-low temperatures much less how to get them into arms. When it came to figuring out those essential steps I guess those in charge were patient.
I am not patient. I am 70. My wife is a few years younger with health issues. Why in Hell would I be patient?
Bill Way,
Golden
