In response to Joe Webb’s letter on Ronald Reagan.Joe wrote “…what Reagan achieved as president was meant for all Americans without exception. All Americans benefited from what Ronald Reagan did.” “His power as president was the means in order to uplift all Americans...”Really? Quite the opposite. He gave us Reaganomics, whereby the wealthy were excused from the high marginal tax rates of the Cold War, effectively ending the yearly gains in purchasing power of the workers in this country. If you plot highest marginal tax rate vs. inequality, the pattern is quite clear.
To obscure how Reagan started the ball rolling for today’s families that can never quite cover their necessities, some even feed their children, the Republicans have granted Ronald Reagan near-sainthood.Who would dare challenge the man who communicated so well on TV?
