As the Golden City Council continues to turn this small town into a “City of Cement” with its mandate for “exponential growth,” isn’t it time to understand what we all face in the future?
As the city council continues to rubber stamp housing projects, the members fail to understand what that means for their children. We are running out of water, energy and resources.
Walter Youngquist, energy expert, said, “As we go from this happy hydrocarbon bubble, we have reached now to a renewable energy resource economy, which we do this century, will the ‘civil’ part of civilization survive? As we both know there is no way that alternative energy sources can supply the amount of per capita energy we enjoy now, much less for the 10 billion expected by 2050. And energy is what keeps this game going. We are involved in a Faustian bargain — selling our economic souls for the luxurious life of the moment, but sooner or later the price has to be paid.”
Sobering is it not? What will your children do when oil runs out? Do you not realize what your incessant growth mandates mean for your children as Colorado jumps from 5.7 million to 10 million by 2050? Do you not understand you are condemning them to irreversible consequences with unsolvable problems?
Wouldn’t it make sense to create a “Golden Population Stabilization Policy” that would solve the coming nightmare before your children must live it?
