A woman remained in an area hospital after a July 12 shooting in Commerce City.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 7100 block of Grape Street. A city statement said officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person. Officers found a woman who'd been shot.

Originally, police reported the woman died of her injuries.

"This information was incorrect. Due to the grave nature of the victim’s wounds and the expedited need for treatment, initial information indicated the victim had died," the statement read. "Tremendous effort by medical staff resulted in the victim’s stabilization."

The statement also said detectives are following up on leads and asking anyone with information to call the Commerce City Police Department tip line at 303-289-3626.
