It was a balanced and steady onslaught, right from the start. The Golden football team scored four passing touchdowns and another four with the run to dominate first-round playoff opponent Cheyenne Mountain on Nov. 5.

Demons junior quarterback Jazel Riley made 15 of 20 passes, including those four touchdowns, though he was also picked off twice. Along with his 61 running yards, he amassed 276 total yards on the night.

Riley's favorite passing target was senior Josh Torrey, who had 104 receiving yards and two of those receiving touchdowns.

Senior Dalton Summers led the Demon's ground assault with nine carries, averaging 8.4 yards with two touchdowns.

Another offensive standout was sophomore Luc Chevalier, who had a receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and five point-after kicks.

Among those keeping the opposition off the scoreboard most of the night was senior linebacker De jour Dubois, who made four tackles, inclulding one for a loss, along with a fumble recovery.

The now 9-2 Golden Demons will face the 9-1 Fountain-Fort Carson on Nov. 12 at Barickman Statdium in Fountain for the second round of the state 4A football tournament.

Jeffco is well-represented in this year's tournament. Also in the second round are Bear Creek, Dakota Ridge and Chatfield.
