Armed student arrested at Arvada High School

School resource officers with the Arvada Police Department arrested an armed student without incident at Arvada High School Sept. 14.

The incident began at the school shortly before 10 a.m. A tweet from the police department said officers and the Jefferson County R-1 School District received a report that an unidentified student was on campus.

The tweet said authorities found a pistol. The student was at a juvenile detention center, facing charges of a juvenile in possession of a handgun and unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

The tweet said the school was "put on hold" for a brief period.
