The first city council meeting of 2018 included a special organizational meeting and a welcome and farewell reception. The event took place on Jan. 11 in city council chambers in Golden.

New city councilors Robert Reed, representing Ward 1; Paul Haseman, representing Ward 2; and Jim Dale, representing Ward 3, were welcomed and took their oath of office. Laura Weinberg kept her seat representing Ward 4, and she took her oath of office as this period’s only incumbent. Farewells were said to Marcia Claxton, Joe Behm and Pamela Gould.

Reed, Haseman, Dale and Weinberg join Mayor Marjorie Sloan, District 1 Councilor Saoirse Charis-Graves and District 2 Councilor Casey Brown. Sloan appointed Brown as the new mayor pro tem, which was previously held by Behm.
